The benefits of diesel engines over petrol ones:

1. Efficiency, Economy. Slightly better energy efficiency (something like 10 percent better than a comparable petrol engine), the fuel is more energy-dense (about another 10 percent, so you can expect at least 20 percent less fuel consumption. You may say that diesel fuel is more expensive than petrol. Right, but the difference is 10p per litre what makes less than 10 %.So you are still saving. You can run it on red diesel what makes it even cheaper.

2. Simplicity. Reliability. The basic diesel engine is far simpler than it’s petrol counterpart as it does not need an ignition system which is the most likely part to fail in every petrol engine. Basically simple diesels do not require any electrical system what makes them much more reliable than petrol engines.

3. Durability. Longer life span. Engines run slower and don’t wear out so quick. Piston speeds are much lower making them 3 or 4 times longer lived than a petrol. The engine has to be built stronger to withstand the increased pressure-that is why they are usually heavier than petrol engines.

4. Torque. Can pull heavy loads. Try to find a petrol engine in hard working machines(lorries,tractors,rail engines and so on)-good luck… They don’t need to accelerate quickly,but they must work against huge forces.

Maintenance on a diesel generator is substantially less than petrol. The safety aspect of a diesel generator is also substantial. The diesel used in a diesel generator set is not flammable as it must be compressed in order to ignite. Diesel Generators are more reliable since they operate by using compression ignition and petrol generators require spark ignition.

This generator offers economic running on its integral diesel fuel tank.

Power is provided by a smooth running pull-start 4.2HP single cylinder 4 stroke engine, of 211cc capacity, on anti-vibration mounts and drives a 2 pole 230 Volt alternator feeding a double AC output sockets 230/110 Volt.

Safety features include a fuel shut-off valve, AC output resetable safety circuit breaker, a seperate engine shut down lever and a fully bonded chassis.

A convenient voltmeter is also fitted to monitor output voltage.
